Monday blues

Yesterday was the reunion and it went well.  It was hot but that’s summer for ya!  I got to see my friend, Sandy and talked to her for a while.  Other than that, really nothing to report on.  People with children, screaming and others singing to karaoke.

So we arrived back to camp around 6 and Stacy and Bill were waiting for us talking with Lisa.  Got ourselves situated and then the loudness started.  The boys doing Jaeger and the ladies doing different kind of shots. I didn’t crawl into bed until 1am.  I am exhausted but that was fun!

So this morning, the fog has returned.  I am not sure what is going on today but I think it is pizza night! I am hoping to get this moonshine flavored like banana pudding.  I tried the butter pecan and it was really smooth.

Anywho, dogs are walked and fed and now it’s coffee time, times 3!

reunion time

So we went to the house for the pre-reunion gathering and “Christmas in July”.  They had a gift exchange that could have become crazy…well it did!  People “stealing” other gifts went on for a long time.  I picked a gift that had snowmen on it and some jingle bells.  I was hoping no one would want it.  It wasn’t big but I really like snowmen. After all was said and done, the unwrapping began!  I got coffee grounds and a thermal coffee cup! Big win for me! John exchanged his game board and sign for a bottle of Jaeger.

This was the first time leaving Buckley alone, uncrated in the RV.  Zeke is an old pro at it so we weren’t worried about him.  They were left about 6 hours alone and they did great!  No accidents or furniture tore up!  Very proud of this little guy.

Today is the picnic and hoping Buckley does well.  I asked people to ask to pet him so that I know he is under controlled/behaving.  He is still only 8 months and acts the fool.  I guess we well see!  I gotta get coffee and do the poop walk for the boys.

Droning around!

So our power went back on just before I konked out last night (about 9/930). The crew stayed up last night and I already had my night meds so I was ready for sleep.  Probably why I am up so early.  Since I am up, I figure maybe I will catch a sunrise with the drone too.  I got some pictures last night while the guys were out on the town seeing what is going on with the power.   The conditions look favorable for sunrise liftoff.

As for the events of the day, no clue.  I know there’s a gathering this evening. I will write more on that tomorrow.  As for the picnic, we won’t be getting there early since we will have the pups.  I am not crazy about taking them since Zeke is an old man who likes his comforts and Buckley is just plain nuts.  Plus it hinders me taking pictures too.  Oh well, there are others who will be taking pictures.

Anywho, going to enjoy my coffee, then take the pups out for a potty break and then it’s drone time!

AHH! No Power!

Well it’s a hot one today!  The heat index is over 100!  We had a small but windy thunderstorm roll through and it took our power out.  John and Chris went out to get diesel fuel to be sure we have enough until tomorrow.  Hope we get power back.  So for now, I am using less stuff.  We are supposed to go up to the house but I’m not sure.  I guess we will find out.

We have stuff in the freezer so hoping power does go back on.  Anyway, nothing much was going on today.  Just a few walks and hanging out in the camper.  It was too hot to do much of anything!

Traveling Down South

After a long ass travel day, we made it to West Virginia, Gilbert to be exact. This is the first time at this place.  We started at 6:20am (on the road time).  Our day started at 4am so yes, I know I am exhausted! The dogs did ok. Zeke has travel anxiety just like me.  He is limping about now but that’s because he wouldn’t lay down.  Anywho, they both were fed and are resting comfortably.

As for the rest of the night, I will make my appearance (we are camping with his sister) but then, taking the rest of the night off to rest my body.

Review of Tahquamenon trip

 Link to the pictures:

2023 July Tahquamenon

Saturday was a drive day so there wasn't much to write about.  The boys were getting anxious to get home so they were acting up a bit.  We hit the road about noon, had a lunch, stopped for gas and then got to the lot about 7pm.  It was nice to get home and unpacked.  I'm almost done with laundry and I need to contact my neighbor to pick up a couple of packages. So glad we have good neighbors!

Overall, a good trip.  I got to fly the drone one morning.  Had lots of driving and Buckley got to experience a tame off road time.  Zeke did ok, his normal.  He's not a fan of driving or moving.  haha

The group had fun kayaking.  I think they were gone for 6 or 7 hours.  It was quiet and a bit lonely but I am not a fan of floating on water.  I had the fire going so it all works out in the end.

It was a fun trip.  The Tiffin road nicely and relatively quiet.  Michigan roads suck balls!

Now to unpack, clean up and get ready for the next trip!

Last full day

Yesterday was a lot of driving around. We went to Oswald Bear country to watch the bears and got to feed a few with apples.  It was neat.  You could get a picture with a cub but, meh.  I saw puppies and that is ok with me.  The boys stayed in the car again and they did well.  I think we were gone for an hour or so. The attendant gave us a shady spot right by him and he said they were quiet.  Then we went to another campground but I forgot where to look around.  It was really quiet and by Lake Superior. Hopped back into the car and drove and found the sandy beach of Lake Superior.  Absolutely beautiful! Drove to another city to see it, I think it was Grand Marasis? Not sure of the spelling but it was just east of Picture Rocks.  Then we drove back to camp but wait, we did stop for ice cream.  They had a flavor named Daily Grind which was coffee ice cream with chocolate covered espresso beans.  OMG it was so good!  So then we came back to camp and had leftover day.  It was an early night for us, well normal for me.

As for today, no clue.  We are leaving in the morning so I think I may want to get some things organized.  I do want to get my drone up and get some pictures, maybe do a mastershot. Just depends on what the agenda is for today. Another lazy wake up day so it’s just me, coffee and in a bit, a walk with the boys.

Puppies! Lighthouse! OOOh!

Yesterday was a rainy one.  Lots of solo trips too.  The other 4 members went off to Whitefish point museum and look around the area. We went off to Crisp Lighthouse but we had a detour.  We stumbled upon a little house that trains sled dogs!  Here’s her website www.midogtours.com.  It was really neat to see how Laura trains her pups, the gear and the 4 types of sled races.  We also got to meet her team.  She uses American Huskies which are Siberian mix.  She basically said they are more for their athleticism than show.  We also got to hold 5 and 10 week old puppies.  They were so cute..and bitey! After we had our tour, we had to let the boys out to stretch their legs.  They did so well being in the car for an hour.

Now we were off to Crisp Lighthouse…

The road was mostly a dirt road but this was Buckley’s first offroad experience.  He did rather well.  There were lots of turns, bumps and rattles.  Nothing really bothered him.  He just cuddled up next to Zeke.  Now Zeke never liked the bumps and whatnot. When we got up to the lighthouse, John went up into it while we sat on the ground.  I am not a big fan of heights so I watched the pups.  Then we took the pups to the beach and walked about. It was time to go home and eat so we arrived back about 5:30pm.  I think we started our day around noon.

Today Trish and Brandan are on their way home and packing as I type.  Not sure what the plan is today.  Kind of interested in the Bear thing. We’ll see what the consensus will be. Anywho…coffee and soon a dog walk and feeding!

The next day...

Yesterday was my alone day.  Everyone else went kayaking.  It sounded like it was a rough go. The pups and I just went for a couple of walks, watch some tv and they slept while I crocheted.  Kind of like when I am home.  After a while, we went outside and they napped in the sun. Almost everyone was gone except for a few that had a shit load of children who were screaming around. I thought they would be at the beach screaming there instead of on the street.  So my pups barked since their kids can scream.

Today I have no clue what is going on.  I heard museum, then I heard Crisp Lighthouse…so I don’t know.  Anything outside and lounging would be great. At least this morning it is a lazy morning.  No rush to get anything going.  So, I am going to get my coffee, watch my pups sleep (they had their morning pee break) and listen to nature.

Happy 4th!

Happy July 4th!

Today I am going to have a little peace and quiet while everyone else goes kayaking.  Yesterday, we visited the upper falls early.  It was so nice because there were barely anyone there.  As we were leaving, the crowds started to appear.  The rest of the group went for a 4 mile hike and John and I took the puppers home, had lunch and relaxed a bit.  After that, hung around the campsite, played games and walked around.  Nothing crazy.  Today I am making breakfast for the crew and Bill is doing his prime for tonight.  YUM!

I still have to walk the mutts for their morning poop walk too.  Other than that, just another day in Paradise!

Lower Falls fun!

Good morning my peeps!

Yesterday’s adventures were interesting.  We made it to the Lower Falls and checked those out.  It was neat.  Lots of people and such.  Buckley did well with all the people and dogs that were there.  After we got back to the cars, we started over to the Upper Falls.  We never made it passed the entrance.  The line was soooooo long!  So this morning we are doing the Upper Falls first thing and then the others are going on a hike.  I think it is 5 miles.  I cannot do that.  Besides my ankle brace being on its last legs, it is too much for me.  I think they also want to do the kayak the river as well.  I have lots to keep me occupied.  I am great at being alone.

I think today I am making my steak fajitas for dinner.  I’m thinking about making some cookies along with it.  Anyways, getting my coffee, feeding the boys and we should be out of here by 8am!

I'm a day behind with postings....

Good morning!  Yesterday was Stacy’s birthday so she was showered with gifts!  It rained most afternoon so we played cards but we did get a dry evening. It was my turn to make dinner so I made crockpot lasagna with breadsticks and for the birthday girl, I made brownies.  It was a good time.

The boys are doing well with camping.  Zeke really doesn’t like it but he makes do but Buckley has been whining to go into the camper.  I don’t think he is used to this yet.  Poor guy hasn’t pooped since we left the house.  I am hoping he gets some relief when I walk them once the sun is up.  So for now, coffee.  Last night, something woke up Buck and he was woofing at something.  Maybe the rain drops hitting the roof.  He finally calmed down.

Today we are going to the Falls.  I am hoping Zeke will be ok.  It is not supposed to be too warm and him and I, well, we walk slow.  I think everyone else wants to do the long hike but I know I cannot.  Tomorrow I think there is a kayak trip too.  The boys and I will be at camp probably just taking it easy.

Oh well, going to finish off my coffee and enjoy the silence of sleeping dogs.

We made it! Let vacation begin!

Well we made it to Tahquamenon and the ride was good. The dogs were ok but still wanted to ride closer to us.  We left the lot around noon and arrived about 6:30pm.  Stacy and Bill were already here so the fire was hot and ready.  So, of course, Buckley is taken back by all the new smells and sounds and had an accident in the camper.

This morning, the boys are being so nosey and the walk is not productive.  Zeke knew what he had to do and did it (potty) but Buck was just sniffy and not doing his thing.  Finally, he peed on the way back but still has not pooped since yesterday at home.  They are not eating much but maybe it is because of the new surroundings.  We are here for the week so I assume they will adapt.  Just hope they do this sooner than later.

Anywho, I have no idea what we are doing today.  I just want to drink my coffee and relax.

A presto!
