Shakamak wrapup

I know this is a few days late but, hey, I am here now.  Let's do this!

The trip started off a little wet with a thunderstorm that rolled in as we were getting hooked up and ready for the drive to Indiana.  The drive was long and we had a few pop up rain showers here and there.  We did stop for fuel and lunch (we left the storage lot about 9am) and gave the dogs a potty break.

We had some detours while we were close to the campgrounds (parades and such).  Once we arrived, it was such a relief!  The drive seemed to be so long.  The weather, overall, was mostly hot and humid.  The others went kayaking a couple of times then we all went to the pool, offroad and checking out the towns nearby.  We did hit a pizza place for Stacy's birthday.  I enjoyed it.

Normally I would be a link to all the photos but I am being very lazy.  They are on Google.

We had some great grub and fun hikes.  We went for a hike at one of the trails and it felt like the rain forest. It was so hot and humid! Gross! The campground itself, was good.  Weird thing was that they (the state park) lost their garbage bin contract and all the bins were taken from inside the park.  There were some at the front but the convenience of bins close by was gone.  That was weird considering there is a slab for each bin and no garbage cans in the bathrooms or picnic areas.  C'mon Indiana...where are we supposed to put our litter?  That was my only complaint...lack of garbage cans.

We are resting up for a few weeks then we are off to Ohio for Hocking Hills for John's birthday.  This time I will have my walking brace with me.  It is already packed!

Last day at the Shak!

Yesterday (Thursday) we had a thunderstorm that hung around until noon so we watched a movie and had breakfast inside our camper.  After that cleared out, the gang decided they wanted to kayak for a few hours.  I ended up sweeping and vacuuming the camper because of the rocks that were everywhere.

We are leaving tomorrow to go to another campground for the night.  I hope it has a better wifi service than here.  It comes and goes.  It’s very annoying!

As for today, I have no idea what is on the agenda.  Of course I wake up at a stupid early time.

Anywho, just going to dump pictures and enjoy my quiet morning.

Happy 4th of July!

Happy Independence Day!

First yeseterday’s things… it was a low key day.  We went to the pool and hung out there for a few hours.  Got to use their slide a few times too.  After that we had dinner and we went for a walk.  It was so humid and hot!  I was very worried about Zeke breathing so hard.  He greeted me this morning as he was on the couch so I know he is ok.

I know we will have a prime dinner today but as for activities, I am not sure.  If they decide to do that park again, I may just stay home.  It was too much for me.  I would like to clean this place up a bit before we leave on Saturday.

Today we are expected some crazy Tstorms this morning but other than that, really not much more.

A presto!

Redbird and the pool

Ok the off road park was kind of like Holly OR park but bigger and a more of a challenge.  There were a lot of steep pitches, ruts and bigger climbs.  It was ok marked but it is a free for all meaning there isn’t a one way sign for traffic.  We were there by ourselves but if there were others, I have no idea how that would be managed. One car could barely get through.  I may stay behind when they want to go again.

Oh I also road Stacy’s bike a bit and now I want to fix mine in the garage to get out and bike more.  It was fun and it helps with the motor skills in my right leg/foot.

It was an early night for me last night.  I turned in at 8.30 but John wanted me to see the fishing pier so I did.  We took the pups with us so they would get a walk before bed.  Of course, without my brace it was hard to walk …well not hard but slow.

After all the prep for bed (me and the dogs), I finally got to bed about 9.30.  I crashed hard  I figured I got over 7 hours of rest (according to Fitbit it was 8 hours).

Today is supposed to be in the 90s and I heard talk of maybe going to the pool.  Might as well since I will be getting surgery soon and probably cannot do the pool for a bit.  They have a slide too!  I so want to do that!

Anywho, I am going to finish my coffee.  I have no idea if I am doing breakfast or not.

A presto!

Post birthday for Stacy shinanigans

It’s a nice cool morning!  I slept in a bit but I could sleep a lot more!  The RV bed is so comfy!

So yesterday the gang went kayaking and it sounded like they had fun.  I decorated their RV for Stacy’s birthday.  She seemed surprised when they pulled up to their parking spot.  I hope she liked it.  It’s a low key surprise.  We went out to a local pizzeria and then ice cream afterwards.  My kind of birthday too!

Today we are supposed to go out on the trails.  I think we are leaving Zeke home and Buckley is traveling with us.  I think the trail is a park like area.  I’m not really sure so pictures will be needed, of course!

I am still trying to wake up at the moment.  Otherwise, breakfast is being made and I need to get the boys outside.  Have a great day!

Start at Shakamak!

 Good morning!

We do have a bit of internet but it is painfully slow to wait for it to do anything.  So I am writing this using Word .

Ok, we are here at Shakamak State Park in Jasonville, IN at sites 73,74.  We left the storage lot on Saturday during a crazy storm. I think we left about 9am Pretty much throughout the drive down here was hit and miss storms.  The drive down, besides the weather, was pretty uneventful.  We arrived at the park about 5pm.  Of course we stopped for gas and lunch so it made the trip a little longer.  Our boys were good throughout the drive too.

Now that we arrived at the park, it was crazy humid!  We have a 50amp plug so we could use both AC! YAY!  Also we brought the dog ramp for Zeke because the RV stairs are steep for him.  He has adapted to them and doesn’t hesitate as much going up and down.  Buckley is also getting use out of it too.

Yesterday(Sunday), we drove around town to see what’s what.  There are a lot of little towns and they were all closed. There were not too many restaurants or any places of interests.  So we bought some firewood and went back to camp.  Everyone settled in and we had dinner and played some cards.  I actually stayed up until 11:30 and woke up before sunrise today!

Speaking of today (Monday),  it is Stacy’s 50th!  I am making breakfast and the gang are all going kayaking.  I am going to set up the site with 50th stuff that Stacy’s mom borrowed to me. I also have a gift from Stevie (her brother) and Bill gave me some gifts to hold onto as well.  I think we may get pizza tonight and have a low key party.  My kind of birthday too.  I bought some Oreos so we will have that instead of cake.  Yes, I am that lazy! Hahahha!

I did get the drone up this morning to get some sunrise video/pictures too.  There’s really not a good place here to drone because the signal keeps dropping between the craft and the RC.  I had to be careful this morning.  Plus there is an airport nearby.  I am kind of limited on where.  Oh and I forgot my AFO.  Now I will be leaving one in the RV so I don’t have to do the back/forth game.

Anywho, I am going to download my drone stuff, drink coffee and enjoy the quiet morning!

A presto!
