2024 Memorial Weekend at Cedar Valley in Comins

Well, we did our quick turn around trip this past weekend (Memorial weekend).  Bill got to try out his new solar panels on his rig and we got to watch/listen about them.  We went to this RV Park so right off the bat, you know there will be kids since those are geared to people with spawns.  Buckley did ok but everything was setting him off.  Probably because he didn't like being on a lead but those are the rules.

Anywho, we got there Friday about 4ish and we didn't set too much up since it was only a few days.  It was about a 3 hour drive.  Saturday, Stacy made us breakfast and we just hung around the campsite.  Eric came over and hung out with us and then Brandan/Trish with their 2 pups (Dolly and Flower).

The weather was perfect, sunny and warm with a slight breeze. They didn't stay for dinner but just a quick visit.  Eric did stay  overnight and we got to host.  Our first sleepover in the sofa bed! He said it was good and it was comfy enough.  Sunday I made sausage gravy with biscuits and Stacy made the boys eggs.  After a bit, Eric and John went exploring for kayak launch sites and took Buckley.  Zeke is having a tough time with going up and down the RV stairs.  We may need to bring the ramp in case there is another long stepping area.  He hit the ground hard a couple of times.  My poor baby.  John ended up picking him up and carrying him out.  Once the guys came back, Eric left for home and then we had fajitas (steak and chicken).  We saw that rain would be coming in so we packed most of the stuff that night.  Plus we wanted to hit The Farmer's Creamery (an Amish dairy store) that morning.

Today, we got up, hooked up and left. Our first stop was the dairy store and I got a chocolate milk that was in a glass bottle.  We also got some fresh maple syrup and a cherry pie (it was really good too).  The drive home was slow with vacationers and construction everywhere! But it is nice to get home and start the new work week.

Port Hope - First trip!

We had a great trip to Port Hope this past weekend (May 16 -19).  We arrived Thursday night about 6pm and had a great site.  The weather was windy most of the days and we had some really nice nights too.

We met up with Robert/Shelia (her son Trevor too), Bob/Betsy (Finn too), and Matt/Theresa (Bently).  What I liked about this crew, we are on our own with food stuffs.  We need more practice on that. It is nice to share a meal when we are with the Longs and whoever else comes along but doing this trip shows us that we need to plan for our own meals.  Just a different type of camping for us.

Anywho, most days we just hung around at Robert's site and just relaxed and had great conversations.  We did go into town to get a few things (and ice cream from Grindstone!). We also had many walks, saw some wildlife too.  We did a trail by Port Crescent that was crazy.  It started just like any other trail but then *poof* no trail markers.  We weren't sure where to go but we knew we were ok.  I was worried about Zeke because I didn't want to push him.  He did surprise me that he wanted to keep going.

I'll add the link to our pictures at the end of this.  We did have a bit of rain and some thunder but we had beautiful clear skies.  I did get a sunrise on the day we were leaving.  I happen to look out my window and saw the sun peaking and I bolted out of bed, dressed and got some pictures!  Most mornings were foggy or cloudy so I knew I wanted to get that picture.  Yeah, I didn't bring my drone but I don't think I would want to fly at 6am.  That's just rude

and it was windy.  I don't like to fly when it is windy. It wasn't just little gusts, it was wind that was trying to blow our camper door shut.
Buckley did good with the other dogs.  He really wanted to play and Finn sometimes initiated it but being tied makes it hard.  Leads can hurt if they get tangled.  But Buckley did good with everyone and was happy to see the people.
But the trip was great. We really enjoyed ourselves and it was an awesome first trip!  May 2024 Port Hope  Enjoy the pictures!

A dopo!
