We arrived on the 28th about 3:45pm. We are at Hoeft State Park which is in Roger’s City (Just east of Mackinac). We were at site 34 but after the guys looked the two sites, they decided to switch. Odd thing is that we are across the street from each other instead of next door. Guys! The internet is very poor even with the hotspot. There is absolutely no signal. When we do go into neighboring towns, we can check email and missed messages.
The weather has been good. When we go for drives and look for things around the area, we noticed the weather would jump 10 to 15 degrees! I think it is due to being close to Lake Huron and the rolling hills. The water is still chilly. This campground has the lake as water access. Last night, all of us went to the beach about 11pm to look at the stars. It was fun since we were all lying on the sand just looking up. Getting to the beach was interesting since the walkway was like a boardwalk but it was very uneven and it had ups and downs. Tonight there may be rain and a change of temperatures. Right now it is a bit humid. I walk Zeke in the morning and John walks him at night. He, Zeke, is not a camping dog at all. It will be interesting when we take him to Colorado.
We haven’t played any games but have been discussing our Colorado trip. We have to figure out food, what trails we want to go to and an alternative in case a trail is closed. I am looking forward to seeing a new state and the mountains. Last time I was there was when we were married in 2006. I’m pretty sure things have changed. Also, some drone pictures will be nice to get. They have some limitations on drone laws in Colorado since there is one of the military’s forts there, national parks (no fly zones) and airports. I will just be happy with pictures but if I can get some arial views, which would be fantastic!
We have a few more days here then we leave on Friday to go to Lakeport for the weekend. Then about 3 weeks, we are off for our Colorado road trip.
