Halfway through

July 2 5:39am

Yesterday’s adventure took us to Imogen pass. It wasn’t too bad except when it started to sleet, snow and rain as we were climbing the mountain.  As we were  climbing, some jerks threw a ice ball at John and I (as a joke) but I did get hit in the eye. I get it that it was for fun but aim for tires and not the vehicle.  It could of do damage to the jeep or my driver.  Better yet, it could harm those boneheads with a punch in the face.  Anyway, we climbed up the mountain and it was slick and challenging. I couldn’t see much because of the clouds and weather.  When we got to the top, I didn’t trust my footing because of how wet it was. So the crew got out and got pictures.  Going back down wasn’t bad since the rain/sleet rolled on. The trail looked so different.  Oh did I mention it was 42F?  It was bloody cold! After the trail was finished, they wanted to go to the overpass off the Million Dollar Highway.  Again, I kept my distance but I did get out.  I am not a fan of heights and I had my fill.

When we got back from our adventure, we dropped off Zeke and went out for dinner.  There was a place in Ridgeway named True Grit Café.  It was a John Wayne themed restaurant.  They mostly served burgers but you had a choice of beef, elk or veggie.  I had the elk.  It was so good!  John had the meatloaf, Stacy ordered a bacon elk burger and Bill had the catfish.

After we got back, Stacy and I did some laundry at the KOA so we had some clean clothes for our next stop in Colorado Springs.  I put all of our clothes away and stayed up for a bit and had a birthday shot with Stacy and the guys.  Good day overall!

Today we are cleaning and packing up to travel to Colorado Springs.  Sunday we are seeing my niece for lunch, Monday we are going to Pike’s Peak, Tuesday John and I are going to dinner with some coworkers, maybe some trailriding (?). Wednesday we will be packing up for our ride home and maybe an unscheduled stop.

I need another cup of coffee and start cleaning inside. So far this trip has been amazing!

A presto!
